International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium |
What We Do
IC&RC is an international non-profit organization that promotes public protection by developing internationally recognized credentials and examinations for prevention, substance use disorder, and recovery professionals.
Quality and integrity are the foundation of IC&RC's work, and all examinations are based on the latest research, evidence-based practices, and updated on a regular basis.
IC&RC develops examinations, sets minimum credentialing standards, and facilitates reciprocity for certified professionals for the following credentials:
ALCOHOL & DRUG COUNSELOR (ADC)
ADVANCED ALCOHOL & DRUG COUNSELOR (AADC)
CLINICAL SUPERVISOR (CS)
PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PS)
CERTIFIED CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADDICTIONS PROFESSIONAL (CCJP)
PEER RECOVERY (PR)
PEER RECOVERY - ASSOCIATE (PR-A)
IC&RC certification boards are in 49 U.S. states and territories, three Native American regions, all branches of the U.S. military and 11 international regions. IC&RC credentials are granted to professionals by state or jurisdictional level certification boards. Professionals interested in earning a credential should contact their local board.
Quality care requires a competent workforce that is well-trained, educated, and skilled in providing appropriate services.
Credentialing and licensing to ensure services are provided in an appropriate and ethical manner.
IC&RC works with certified individuals and other professionals in the field to delineate critical job components and develop examination questions for inclusion on its examinations.
IC&RC credentials are recognized and required by regulation and statute in many jurisdictions; used as a basis for hiring and advancing the addiction workforce; recognized by US federal agencies as qualified professionals to provide substance use disorder services; and required for reimbursement by many third-party payers.
Minimum standards allow certified professionals to transfer their credentials between certification board jurisdictions offering the same credential.
Holding an IC&RC recognized credential through a certification board entitles professionals to an International Certificate to signify their international, reciprocal status.
